IFUW is reserving group tours on August 2, 3, 4, 10, 11 and 12; individual tours may be arranged for groups of four or more on other days.

Sun and Moon PyramidsTeotihuacan and Guadalupe Shrine

The tour begins with a visit to the Guadalupe Shrine, which houses the famous 16th century icon "Our Lady of Guadalupe". Of great importance to Mexican Catholics, the icon has been a symbol of the Mexican nation since the War of Independence. Next, you will visit the archeological site of Teotihuacan, with its impressive Quetzalcoatl’s Temple and the Sun and Moon pyramids. On the way home, you will be taken to an obsidian workshop, where you will find beautiful Mexican handicrafts.

tula sculptures Tula and Tepotzolan

Travel northeast to Tepotzolan to visit an 18th century Jesuit seminary and a well preserved baroque mission church, the Church of San Francisco Javier . You will be taken next to the Museo de Virreinato, originally housing schools dedicated to training Jesuit missionaries in the indigenous languages of Mexico and to providing education to Indian boys. It's now a museum with three centuries of colonial religious art. Going north into Hidalgo State, you will visit the archeological site of Tula to see the magnificent stone sculptures "The Atlantes" and palaces.

Taxco and Cuernavaca Silver Tour

The morning will start with a drive along the highway through magnificent mountains on the pacific coast. You will then visit Cuernavaca, the ”City of the Eternal Spring”, famous for its 16th century Cathedral. Early evening, you will be taken to the wonderful silver town of Taxco with spectacular cobblestone streets. There you will visit Santa Prisca´s Church, the Borda Plaza and a silver factory.

Puebla and Cholula Colonial Tour

On this tour, you will see the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes together with the beautiful Tonanzintla Church which combines Indian and Spanish art. Afterwards, you will walk through the Cholula Pyramid tunnels. The tour will continue to Puebla, one of the most important cites in Mexico, where you will visit the Cathedral and the Rosary’s Chapel. On the way home, you will visit a famous tile factory.
